I’m currently based in the beautiful village of Chippenham in Cambridgeshire, close to the cities of Cambridge, Ely and Bury St Edmunds. I’ve been shooting weddings for over 7 years now, and you can see some of my latest weddings here, on my blog.
Although I now specialise in weddings I started my career as a wildlife photographer and have also covered events for the British Council in Geneva. My work has been published in various magazines, including Country File and Sunday Times Spectrum, and I have won several international awards, most notably SWPP Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2011
Since a friend asked me to shoot his wedding back in 2010 I’ve been hooked. I’ve shot well over 200 weddings across the UK and several destinations abroad, including Spain, Belgium and Santorini.
Throughout your day you’ll see me employing a range of different styles and techniques to capture and create the best images possible.
This can vary from discreet reportage style wedding photography, where I record natural moments as they happen, to creative, dynamic couple portraits that stand out from the crowd.
The use of light is key to any photographers style and I really believe in using a range of options. It may be video light to create a soft, warm romantic look, a portrait lit with beautiful, clean, natural light or sometimes something completely different, like a lamp or candle.
I also like to look for interesting angles and compositions, and to use a variety of focal lengths ranging from wide, scenic shots to close up, intimate portraits. I always like to try something different at each wedding and I’ll aim to produce shots that no one else has done before.
I want to give you something different and unique, something that really captures the essence of who you are.
I like to be at your wedding from start to finish, so I can record everything that happens and tell the story of your day as fully as possible. I’ll be there during bridal prep and in the thick of it on the dance floor as the clock strikes midnight ( I have been known to throw the odd shape myself..). I can promise you that some of the best images of people letting go and having fun are taken during the last half hour. Some photographers will leave after the first dance and head home. I prefer to be at your wedding.
I always meet my couples before the wedding, where possible, and preferably at your chosen venue. This gives me a chance to scout out the best locations and more importantly an opportunity to get to know you both. It’s really important that I build up a great rapport with a bride and groom, as on the wedding day it means that everyone is relaxed and this really shows through in the images.
At the wedding I’ll often work with an assistant who helps me with lighting and I offer an option to have a second photographer, who is always an experienced and insured professional. This is a great idea, especially if you want coverage of both the bride and groom getting ready, as on my own this is sometimes not possible, although I’ll always try.
After the wedding I sort through all of the images and select the best. I then edit these to create a consistent, clean and professional look.
I will then select the best and enhance these further in Photoshop to create a signature look and style. These are then presented to you via a password protected gallery with digital download and backed up on USB. If you want to have an album I currently design and supply these on request from the beautiful Sim Imaging range.
One rule I always work to. It’s your wedding day and if you’re not completely happy with something I want to know. Likewise, if you’ve looked at my site and there’s something you want that I don’t provide, tell me.
The bottom line is that I want to create images and albums that make you and your wedding day look amazing. I want to enhance your day by making sure you are confident, relaxed and happy with the way I work and I want you to have photographs that you’ll love
“My husband and I took an interest in Pete being our wedding photographer as we felt he had a real eye for photography when looking through his portfolio. We saw his work and instantly knew he was extremely talented. When we went to meet him we both knew he was the photographer we wanted! We had an engagement shoot which was a great opportunity to get used to having our photo taken but also great to get to know each other. Our photos from that were amazing and we were both so pleased with them. After looking at our engagement photos we were even more pleased that he would be doing our wedding photos.
On our wedding day Pete was just amazing! He made us feel so at ease and made sure that he caught every moment. I had to email Pete before we went on our honeymoon to say a huge thanks. Part of my email read ‘I just want to say WOW!!! Thanks so much for being everything and more we could have hoped for on our wedding day. We haven’t seen the photos yet but I have had so many amazing comments from our guests about how fantastic you were. People actually came and asked us if you were our friend that happened to be a photographer as they felt like you were part of the guest list…. as did we! We honestly could not have chosen a better photographer to be a part of our special day. You were not just a photographer you also became an advisor, the go to guy and a friend! I just can not express how happy we are that you were there and what a great job you did. We are so pleased we are literally lost for words’.
All our guests noticed how talented Pete is and I had many comments from guests saying what a good job he did. Everyone cant wait to see the photos as they know they will be amazing!
Thank you Pete for your fantastic work on our wedding day! I will definitely be recommending you to everyone!”
